Tom Crabbe and Stan Dens head into the weekend as the leaders of the U23 AVS Cup. The duo safeguarded the lead from their nearest competitors Milan Van den Haute and Jasper Bertels, which shrank to six points.

Friday night’s U23 AVS Cup featured its first-ever madison. The race was suspended early after a crash, but following a 10-minute break all riders returned to their bikes. The win went to the Swiss tandem Fabian Weiss/Damien Fortis.

Leaders Tom Crabbe/Stan Dens have enjoyed a consistent U23 AVS Cup so far, taking another podium in third. Italian duo Niccolo Galli/Mattia Pinazzi dropped out of the front of the race. The pair had been solidly in the top three for three consecutive days, but lost a lap in the madison.

In the closing 500-metre time-trial Milan Van den Haute and Jasper Bertels took their second win in a row on the discipline, closing the gap to the leaders. After four days they remain second with 65 points, six points shy of Crabbe and Dens who lead with 71 points.
